West Plains, MO (December 21, 2025) – A deadly head-on collision early Thursday morning took the life of one man and injured another on U.S. Route 63, approximately four miles north of West Plains in Howell County.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the crash occurred around 3:18 a.m. on December 18, 2025. Investigators say a southbound 2022 Ford F-250 was traveling the wrong way in the northbound lanes when it struck a 1991 Ford F-250 head-on in the left lane. The impact resulted in both vehicles sustaining total damage.
The 48-year-old West Plains man driving the 1991 Ford was pronounced dead at the scene by Coroner Michael Pauly at 4:28 a.m. The 40-year-old Marionville man behind the wheel of the newer Ford suffered minor injuries and was transported to Ozarks Health Care for treatment.
This incident marked the 35th fatality in Troop G’s jurisdiction this year, compared to 27 at the same time in 2024.
