Houston, TX (June 10, 2025) – A hit-and-run incident early Sunday morning resulted in two Houston Police Department officers being hospitalized after their patrol vehicle crashed while responding to an emergency call.
According to reports, the crash occurred just after midnight on June 9 near Homestead Street and Peyton Street. The officers were heading northbound with lights and sirens activated en route to a reported stabbing when a suspect vehicle suddenly entered their path from a side street, causing a collision. Their patrol unit struck a tree, and a small fire broke out shortly afterward.
Fortunately, a nearby wrecker driver, described as a good Samaritan, arrived quickly and helped pull the officers from the vehicle to safety. Both officers, each with one year of service, sustained minor injuries and were transported for treatment.
The driver of the suspect vehicle fled the scene. Houston police say they have leads on the suspect’s identity and are continuing efforts to locate him with the help of the Fox Division.
