Houston, TX (January 15, 2025) – A 69-year-old man tragically lost his life Friday morning in a secondary accident at the scene of an earlier collision, according to the Houston Police Department.

The incident occurred around 8 a.m. on January 10 in the 7500 block of Bellfort Street.

Authorities report that the man had been a passenger in a vehicle involved in an earlier crash and was standing on the sidewalk near the guardrail when the fatal incident unfolded.

A black Chevrolet Impala, driven by a 39-year-old woman, approached the area heading eastbound on Bellfort Street. Attempting to avoid the vehicles in the roadway, the driver moved to the right and struck the guardrail.

In an effort to avoid the Impala, the pedestrian jumped over the guardrail but tragically landed under the bridge in a grassy area. Emergency responders transported him to Ben Taub General Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.

The driver of the Impala remained at the scene and cooperated with authorities. DUI is not suspected in the incident, and the investigation is ongoing.
