Howard County, TX (January 15, 2025) – A tragic accident in Howard County late Saturday night claimed the life of a bicyclist, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.
The collision occurred at approximately 11:38 p.m. on the Interstate Highway 20 north service road near mile marker 187.
Authorities report that 18-year-old Joshua Eilenberger was driving a 2001 Ford ZX2 westbound on the IH-20 north service road when his vehicle struck a bicyclist who was also traveling westbound.
The bicyclist was transported to Scenic Mountain Medical in Big Spring, where they were pronounced dead. Preliminary reports indicate the bicyclist was wearing dark-colored clothing, and the bicycle lacked lighting equipment. The bicyclist was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
