HUNT COUNTY, TX (January 11, 2025) – A tragic motorcycle accident claimed the life of a Dallas Police Department officer on Tuesday, January 7, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS).
The fatal collision occurred along SH 276 and involved two vehicles. Officer Gabriel Bixby, 29, was riding a Harley Davidson motorcycle westbound on SH 276 when he collided with a Honda Accord.
According to reports, the driver of the Honda, identified as Frank James, 85, was stopped on the eastbound side of SH 276 and was attempting to turn into a private drive. James failed to yield the right of way, leading to the collision.
Officer Bixby suffered fatal injuries as a result of the crash. Authorities have not released further details, and the investigation is ongoing.
