Industrial Accident in Genoa Township, MI — Two Hospitalized After Powerline Strike (June 6, 2025)

Genoa Township, MI (June 6, 2025) – Emergency crews responded to a severe workplace incident earlier today at a construction site in Genoa Township.

According to reports, at approximately 12:30 p.m., deputies from the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office, along with Brighton Area Fire crews, were dispatched to a commercial project on Latson Road, just south of Grand River Avenue. Workers were in the process of pouring concrete for a new car wash when the boom spreader from a concrete truck accidentally came into contact with an overhead primary power line. The line broke and fell, striking two workers on the ground and electrocuting them.

Both employees suffered critical injuries and were transported by Livingston County EMS to the University of Michigan Hospital for further treatment. DTE Energy provided assistance at the scene, and the investigation has since been handed over to the Michigan Occupational Safety and Health Administration (MIOSHA). No further details about the individuals or company involved have been made available at this time.
