Chicago, IL (August 5, 2025) – A driver was injured early Tuesday morning after exiting their vehicle on the Dan Ryan Expressway, according to Illinois State Police.
According to reports, the crash occurred in the outbound lanes near 95th Street on August 5. The incident began when a passenger vehicle was involved in a collision with another car that fled the scene.
Following the initial crash, the driver of the struck vehicle got out of their car and was then hit by a separate oncoming vehicle. Both the pedestrian driver and the motorist who struck them were transported to an area hospital for treatment. Their conditions have not yet been made public.
The southbound lanes of the expressway were temporarily shut down while police investigated the scene. Traffic has since resumed in the area.
