Injury Crash in Elma, WA — Two Drivers Hurt on US Highway 12 (July 12, 2025)

Elma, WA (July 15, 2025) – A collision near Elma over the weekend left two drivers injured after one failed to yield for an approaching emergency vehicle. Washington State Patrol said the crash occurred Saturday, July 12, around 10:40 a.m. on U.S. Highway 12 at the intersection with State Route 8.

According to reports, a 79-year-old woman from Hoquiam was driving eastbound on the highway behind a 32-year-old Washington, D.C., woman who was also headed east. As an emergency vehicle with lights and sirens activated approached the area, the younger driver yielded as required by law. Troopers say the Hoquiam woman, however, failed to yield and crashed into the other vehicle.

Both drivers sustained injuries as a result of the collision and were transported to Summit Pacific Medical Center in Elma for treatment. The full extent of their injuries has not been released. Washington State Patrol continues to investigate the crash and urges drivers to remain vigilant and aware when emergency vehicles are present on the roadway.
