Injury Crash in Grandin, ND — 12 Hurt After Van Tire Blowout on I-29 (July 3, 2025)

Grandin, ND (July 6, 2025) – A terrifying rollover accident injured 12 people, including 10 children, after a van’s tire blew out along Interstate 29 near Grandin, according to the North Dakota Highway Patrol.

According to reports, the crash occurred around 3:30 p.m. on July 3, about three miles north of Grandin. Troopers said a Ford Transit van was heading southbound when its left rear tire unexpectedly blew out. The driver lost control, causing the van to leave the roadway and roll into the ditch.

The van was carrying a 35-year-old woman and 10 children, ranging in age from six months to 16 years old. All 11 passengers suffered non-life-threatening injuries and were transported to area hospitals for further treatment. The 34-year-old male driver was not injured. Authorities confirmed that everyone in the van was properly restrained with seat belts or child safety seats at the time of the crash.

The North Dakota Highway Patrol continues to investigate the incident and reminded motorists to regularly inspect vehicle tires to help prevent similar accidents.
