Iola, KS (August 12, 2025) – Two people suffered serious injuries Monday morning following a multi-vehicle collision on U169 in Allen County. The crash happened at approximately 10:51 a.m. on August 11, near mile marker 65.4, about 3.5 miles south of Iola.

According to reports, a northbound 1999 Volkswagen Passat, driven by 36-year-old Anthony Thomas Edmondson of Lawrence, traveled left of center and struck a southbound 2008 Honda Civic head-on. The Civic, driven by 22-year-old Johnathan Thomas Reiss of Oak Grove, Missouri, then collided with the rear trailer wheels of a northbound 2007 Kenworth semi-truck.

Both Edmondson and Reiss sustained suspected serious injuries and were transported to area hospitals. The semi-truck driver, 51-year-old Harold Clifford Osborne of Clay Center, was not hurt. The Kansas Highway Patrol continues to investigate the crash.
