Injury Crash in Sedgwick County, KS — Multiple Hurt at K96 & 151st St Intersection (August 3, 2025)

Sedgwick County, KS (August 5, 2025) – Several people were injured Sunday afternoon in a multi-vehicle crash at the intersection of K96 Westbound and 151st Street in Sedgwick County.

According to reports, the collision occurred around 1:25 p.m. on August 3. Authorities say an 89-year-old driver, James Commerford of Wichita, was operating a 2008 Mercury Grand Marquis southbound on 151st Street when he failed to stop at the intersection’s posted stop sign. His vehicle entered the intersection and collided with a westbound 2024 Ford F-350, driven by 76-year-old Keith Van Doren of Saint John.

The force of the crash caused the Ford F-350 to strike a 2020 Harley Davidson Street Glide, operated by 50-year-old Jenny Oliver of Lakin.

Commerford and Oliver both sustained suspected serious injuries and were transported to St. Francis Hospital for treatment. Van Doren suffered a minor injury, while his passenger, 62-year-old Darla Van Doren, was reportedly uninjured. Oliver was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.

Emergency crews responded quickly, and all vehicles involved were towed from the scene. The Kansas Highway Patrol continues to investigate.
