Salt Lake City, UT (June 28, 2025) – Two people were seriously injured Friday afternoon when their vehicle collided with a semi truck and overturned into an embankment along Interstate 80 in Summit County.
According to reports, the crash happened at about mile marker 191 on I-80 as a Chevy Pacifica was traveling eastbound toward Evanston on June 28. Utah Highway Patrol spokesman Cam Roden said the Pacifica drifted out of its lane and struck the back of a semi truck.
Following the impact, the driver lost control, causing the Pacifica to veer off the right side of the roadway, where it hit an embankment and rolled over. Emergency responders arrived to find both occupants trapped inside the wrecked vehicle. Crews extricated both victims — one of whom was not wearing a seatbelt — and transported them to area hospitals. One was airlifted by helicopter due to the severity of their injuries, while the other was taken by ambulance.
