Wyandotte County, KS (August 28, 2025) – Two vehicles collided on Interstate 70 late Wednesday night, leaving one driver injured and one car fully engulfed in flames.
According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, the crash happened at approximately 11:05 p.m. on August 27, 2025, on westbound I-70 near milepost 424, just west of the Minnesota Avenue exit. Investigators say a 2012 Subaru, driven by 20-year-old Jose A. Sagastume Castro, struck a crash attenuator and swerved into lane two. A second vehicle, a 2014 Toyota driven by 22-year-old Ameer Hamza of Kansas City, then struck the rear of the Subaru.
The impact caused the Subaru to catch fire and become fully engulfed in flames. Castro was transported to KU Medical Center with suspected minor injuries. Hamza was reportedly uninjured, and both vehicles were towed from the scene by Santa Fe Tow.
