Waukegan, IL (February 15, 2026) – A multi vehicle collision along Interstate 94 in Waukegan sent two adults and a toddler to the hospital Wednesday afternoon, causing significant traffic congestion during the evening commute.
According to the Illinois State Police , the crash occurred around 4:10 p.m. on February 11 in the westbound lanes of Interstate 94 near milepost 12.5, just north of Route 137. Authorities reported that three vehicles were involved in the collision.
Emergency crews from the Gurnee Fire Department and Libertyville Fire Department responded to the scene. Initial reports suggested a child in a car seat may have been ejected; however, officials later confirmed the toddler was not ejected from the vehicle. Four individuals were evaluated by paramedics. Two adults and the toddler were transported to area hospitals for further treatment. Their injuries were described as not appearing to be life threatening.
The crash led to the closure of two westbound lanes on Interstate 94 until approximately 7:40 p.m., with traffic backed up as far as Route 176.
