West Palm Beach, FL (October 12, 2024) – A 32-year-old Boynton Beach man was killed in an early morning crash in West Palm Beach, leading to the arrest of the other driver involved, according to the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office (PBSO).
The PBSO reported that Daniel Bonja, 37, was arrested and booked into the Palm Beach County jail on charges of DUI manslaughter and driving without a license. Investigators noted that Bonja showed signs of impairment after the crash, and a blood test was conducted to assess his alcohol levels.
The incident occurred around 2 a.m. when Jason Bartley, the victim, was driving east on Southern Boulevard. Bartley’s vehicle collided with Bonja’s Chevrolet pickup truck, which had been stopped at a red light at the Benoist Farms Road intersection. When the light turned green, Bonja began moving forward, and Bartley’s Cadillac struck him from behind. Bartley’s vehicle crashed into a concrete wall, igniting in flames. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
