Jefferson County, MO (January 18, 2025) – A single-vehicle crash early Saturday morning on Sunrise School Road claimed the life of a 16-year-old driver and injured a 15-year-old passenger.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported that the crash occurred at approximately 1:10 a.m. near 4220 Sunrise School Road. A 2000 Ford Ranger, driven by a 16-year-old girl from De Soto, MO, traveled off the right side of the road, struck an embankment, and overturned.
The driver, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene by EMS personnel at 1:34 a.m. The passenger, a 15-year-old girl from Barnhart, MO, sustained minor injuries and was transported by Valle Mines Ambulance to Mercy Hospital South for treatment.
The vehicle was totaled and towed from the scene. Authorities, including Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office personnel, continue to investigate the circumstances leading to the crash.
