Jonesboro, AR (May 31, 2025) – A tragic update has been released following a crash earlier this month at the intersection of Flint Street and West Washington Avenue in Jonesboro.
According to reports, the incident occurred on May 20 when 90-year-old Norman Rudd, driving a 2024 Buick Encore, ran a red light while traveling southbound on Flint Street. His vehicle collided with a 2015 Cadillac SRX driven by 71-year-old Tonya Hottel, who was heading westbound on West Washington Avenue.
Both vehicles sustained significant damage, with Hottel’s SUV suffering front-end damage and Rudd’s vehicle sustaining driver-side and front-end impacts. Initially, there was no indication of life-threatening injuries. However, authorities were later notified that Rudd passed away on May 23 at Regional One Health in Memphis due to injuries sustained in the crash.
The Jonesboro Police Department continues to investigate the incident.
