East Longmeadow, MA (August 27, 2025) – A U.S. Postal Service mail carrier has been arrested after allegedly driving under the influence and striking a pedestrian, several vehicles, and a building in East Longmeadow Tuesday morning.

According to East Longmeadow Police, the incident occurred around 9:39 a.m. on August 26 near the Pride gas station in the town center. Officers responded to multiple 911 calls reporting that a mail truck had hit a pedestrian and then fled the area heading north on Elm Street.

Emergency crews found the pedestrian with serious injuries. The victim was treated by the Longmeadow Fire Department and transported to Baystate Medical Center, where they remain in serious but stable condition.

The driver, identified as 54-year-old Robert O’Sullivan of Westfield, reportedly struck multiple vehicles and narrowly missed several pedestrians and gas station employees before crashing into Peoples Bank at 201 North Main Street.
