Tucson, AZ (August 26, 2025) – Authorities confirmed that 64-year-old Mark William Haffner was killed early Saturday morning in a crash along Aviation Parkway, according to the Tucson Police Department.
According to reports, the deadly incident happened shortly before 3:00 a.m. on August 22 near the Kino Overpass. Haffner had been driving a Toyota Tacoma eastbound when he experienced a flat tire and pulled over to the shoulder. Moments later, an eastbound Chevrolet Avalanche crossed over the white line and struck the stopped Tacoma while Haffner was seated inside.
Haffner sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. The other driver, identified as 34-year-old Carlos Samiengo Jr., was arrested on charges of second-degree murder after investigators determined he had been driving under the influence.
The crash remains under investigation by Tucson Police.
