Burlington, KY (September 26, 2025) – One man is dead and another is hospitalized with serious injuries following a violent rollover crash early Friday morning in Boone County.
According to the Boone County Sheriff’s Office, the fatal accident occurred around 4 a.m. on September 26 at the intersection of East Bend Road and Possum Path Road in Burlington. Deputies responded to a single-vehicle crash involving a car that had veered out of its lane and off the roadway.
The vehicle, which was headed westbound, failed to negotiate a curve, crossed the center line, and left the road before striking a tree and overturning. The crash blocked both directions of traffic for several hours.
The driver, identified as 48-year-old Matthew Combs of Burlington, was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities confirmed he was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.
A passenger in the vehicle was extricated by first responders and rushed to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center with potentially life-threatening injuries. That individual was wearing a seat belt, officials noted.
