Fort McCoy, FL (June 29, 2025) — A motorcyclist was killed Friday evening in a two-vehicle crash that marks the second motorcycle fatality in Marion County in just two days, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
According to reports, the deadly collision happened around 6:10 p.m. on June 27 at the intersection of Northeast 225th Street and County Road 315 in Fort McCoy. Troopers say a 27-year-old man from Citra was riding a Suzuki motorcycle southbound on County Road 315 when a northbound Toyota Camry, driven by a 43-year-old woman from Virginia, attempted to turn left onto Northeast 225th Street. The car turned directly into the path of the motorcycle.
The impact threw the rider from his bike, landing him on the grassy shoulder roughly 25 feet away while the motorcycle was propelled into a nearby tree line. Tragically, the rider was pronounced dead at the scene. The Toyota driver was not physically injured but was described as distraught. Family and friends of the victim arrived at the scene and were consoled by FHP troopers.
This intersection is the same location where another motorcyclist was killed in a separate incident last year, and it adds to a growing number of traffic deaths in Marion County — four fatalities since June 21 alone. The Florida Highway Patrol continues to investigate the circumstances of this tragic collision.
