Clayton, NY (July 24, 2025) – A devastating multi-vehicle collision involving two motorcycles and an SUV claimed the lives of two people on Sunday in the Town of Clayton.

According to reports, the crash occurred on July 21 when New York State Police responded to a collision involving a 2019 Dodge SUV and two motorcycles on State Route 12. The motorcycles were traveling northbound when the SUV, traveling south, attempted a left turn onto State Park Road and collided with both riders.

The motorcyclists, identified as a 67-year-old man and a 69-year-old woman from Ontario, Canada, were both pronounced dead at the scene. The SUV driver and passengers were evaluated on site and did not require hospitalization.

Multiple agencies responded to assist, including the Town of Clayton and Town of Orleans Fire Departments, Thousand Island Emergency Rescue Squad (TIERS), Clayton Police, Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, and the New York State Park Police. The investigation remains ongoing.

Protect Your Rights After a Fatal Accident Today

Losing someone in a motorcycle accident can be especially traumatic and confusing for families. In cases where a driver’s actions — such as failing to yield or turning unsafely — result in fatal injuries, surviving loved ones may be eligible to pursue a wrongful death claim. Legal action can help cover funeral expenses, loss of income, and emotional suffering. A skilled attorney can investigate the incident, preserve critical evidence, and ensure that insurance companies provide the compensation families deserve. Taking swift legal steps after a fatal crash can offer families clarity, support, and a path forward in the wake of tragedy.
