Chicago, IL (July 3, 2025) — A tragic crash involving two motorcyclists claimed both of their lives late Friday night along Illinois 394 in Chicago’s southwest suburbs, according to Illinois State Police.
According to reports, state troopers responded to the scene around 9:51 p.m. on June 28 near Dyer Road. Investigators say both riders were traveling northbound when 22-year-old Justin Fasnacht of Crown Point, Indiana, rear-ended 24-year-old Sarah Gudeman of northwest Indiana. Gudeman was pronounced dead at the scene by the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office, while Fasnacht was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he later died from his injuries, according to the Lake County Coroner’s Office.
Authorities have not yet determined what caused Fasnacht to collide with Gudeman’s motorcycle. The stretch of Illinois 394 was shut down for several hours overnight as investigators worked to reconstruct the scene and collect evidence. The road reopened early Saturday morning, but the investigation remains ongoing.
