Columbia, SC (July 18, 2025) – A tragic motorcycle crash late Wednesday night claimed the life of a 19-year-old Chapin resident, authorities have confirmed.
According to reports, Aleena Upchurch was fatally injured in a collision that occurred at approximately 11:56 p.m. on July 16, 2025, along the westbound side of Interstate 20 near the 71-mile marker.
The South Carolina Highway Patrol stated that Upchurch was operating a Suzuki motorcycle traveling west when it struck the rear of a Chevrolet pickup truck that was towing a trailer. The impact proved fatal, and Upchurch was pronounced dead at the scene by responding medics.
The Chevy pickup was occupied by two individuals who were not injured in the crash. Law enforcement officials remained at the site for hours overnight to begin the investigation and assess evidence.
