The Knoxville Police Department confirmed that the collision occurred on July 8 after a vehicle attempted to cross all four lanes on Broadway from the Old Broadway intersection to enter a shopping center on Tazewell Pike.
According to reports, the motorcyclist was traveling northbound when they struck the passenger side of the vehicle. The impact forced the vehicle into a building within the shopping center. Emergency responders arrived on scene around 9 a.m., diverting traffic from northbound lanes of Broadway onto Tazewell Pike while investigators worked to piece together the events that led to the fatal crash. The driver of the vehicle was transported to the hospital for treatment, and no other injuries were reported. The identity of the deceased motorcyclist has not yet been released.
