Knoxville, TN (July 21, 2025) – A tragic early morning crash claimed the life of a motorcycle passenger and left another person seriously injured Saturday in Knoxville.

According to reports, the Knoxville Police Department responded to a collision involving a motorcycle and a Dodge Durango at approximately 1:15 a.m. on July 20. The crash occurred near the intersection of South Northshore Drive and Wilda Place.

Jessica Rainwater, who was riding as a passenger on the motorcycle, was pronounced dead at the scene. The motorcycle’s driver, Nolan Rainwater, was transported to a nearby hospital with serious injuries, authorities said.

Beth Ann Howard, also known as Beth Cardwell, was identified as the driver of the Dodge Durango. She was arrested and charged with vehicular homicide, vehicular assault, and driving under the influence. According to court records, Howard admitted to consuming alcohol prior to the crash, failed field sobriety tests, and had the smell of alcohol on her breath. She reportedly left a local bar, Union Jacks, shortly before the incident.
