Webster, MA (July 26, 2025) — A Connecticut man was killed in a motorcycle crash Wednesday after striking a tractor-trailer on Interstate 95, and authorities have since linked him to two recent bank robberies.
According to reports, the fatal collision occurred July 24. Connecticut State Police confirmed that 52-year-old Shawn Twomey died at the scene after his Suzuki GSXR motorcycle collided with a semi-truck.
Twomey was previously identified by Webster Police as a suspect in the robbery of Hometown Bank on Gore Road, which took place July 23. Surveillance images shared by police showed the suspect fleeing the bank on a motorcycle. Just one day later, Stonington Police in Connecticut linked Twomey to a second robbery at a Pawcatuck bank.
Authorities continue to investigate both the fatal crash and the criminal cases surrounding the robberies.
