Chewelah, WA (October 11, 2025) – A tragic motorcycle accident claimed the lives of Jerome Venters and Gloria Venters on Thursday afternoon in Stevens County, according to the Washington State Patrol.
The fatal collision occurred around 3:30 p.m. on October 9 along Highway 395, just outside the city of Chewelah. A Jeep Patriot heading northbound reportedly attempted to pass several vehicles and collided head-on with a motorcycle traveling in the opposite direction.
Jerome Venters, 74, and Gloria Venters, 76, both from Deer Park, were on the motorcycle at the time of the crash. Sadly, both were pronounced dead from their injuries.
The Jeep driver, identified as 52-year-old Ida Hildebrand, was not wearing a seatbelt and was transported to a hospital. Authorities have stated Hildebrand will face two counts of vehicular homicide in connection with the incident.
