Williamsburg, IN (September 2, 2025) – One person is dead and two others injured following a motorcycle collision with a truck and trailer Monday evening in Wayne County.

According to the Indiana State Police, the crash happened just after 5:00 p.m. on September 1 at the intersection of North U.S. Highway 35 and Sycamore Street in Williamsburg. Authorities report that a northbound Ford F-550, pulling a flatbed trailer, was beginning a westbound turn onto Sycamore Street when a motorcycle with two riders attempted to pass the truck in a marked no-passing zone.

The motorcycle collided with the side of the trailer during the turn. Bystanders rushed to help, attempting life-saving measures on the motorcycle’s passenger, 41-year-old Rick Kelly of Ottawa, Illinois. Unfortunately, Kelly was pronounced dead at the scene.

Both the motorcycle’s driver and the truck’s driver were transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The crash remains under investigation.
