According to the Pennsylvania State Police, the crash occurred just after 6:30 p.m. on September 17 along Trutt Road, north of Yordy Road. Authorities say 65-year-old Craig A. Derk was riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle when two deer entered the roadway. He was unable to avoid a collision and struck both animals.

The impact caused the motorcycle to fall on its left side, throwing Derk from the vehicle. Emergency responders transported him by ambulance to Wellspan Evangelical Community Hospital, where he was later pronounced deceased.
