Spokane Valley, WA (August 30, 2025) – A motorcyclist died Thursday night following a suspected DUI crash at the intersection of Sprague Avenue and Custer Road in Spokane Valley. The fatal collision occurred around 9:40 p.m. on August 28, according to the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office.
Spokane County authorities say 61-year-old Darla Stoffel was traveling east on Sprague Avenue in a passenger vehicle when she attempted to make a left turn. During the turn, she collided with a westbound motorcyclist.
The male motorcyclist sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity has not yet been released pending family notification. Stoffel was treated for minor injuries on-site.
Deputies located cannabis in her vehicle, and she was arrested on suspicion of impairment. She has been booked into the Spokane County Jail on a vehicular homicide charge. Investigators are continuing to review the circumstances of the crash.
