Stuart, FL (June 18, 2025) – A major crash involving eight vehicles at a busy Stuart intersection left four people hospitalized Tuesday afternoon.
According to reports, the accident occurred at the intersection of U.S. Highway 1 and Southeast Central Parkway around 1:10 p.m. on June 17. Stuart Police said the crash was triggered when a driver failed to slow down in time, causing a chain reaction involving seven additional vehicles.
Two individuals sustained serious injuries and were airlifted to HCA Florida Lawnwood Hospital in Fort Pierce. Two others were transported to Cleveland Clinic Martin North Hospital in Stuart with minor injuries. Additional occupants were evaluated at the scene by emergency responders.
Stuart Police, Stuart Fire Rescue, and Martin County Fire Rescue all responded to the incident. Southbound lanes of U.S. 1 were temporarily shut down for emergency response and have since reopened.
