Crystal Lake, IL (December 17, 2025) – A four-vehicle crash resulted in a rollover, five hospitalizations, and a full roadway shutdown Monday morning on Route 31 in unincorporated Crystal Lake.
According to the Illinois State Police, the Crystal Lake Fire Rescue Department and McHenry County Sheriff’s Office were called to the scene around 6:15 a.m. on December 15 near TC Industries, close to Half Mile Road. The crash initially involved a report of possible entrapment after a vehicle rolled over with three occupants inside. However, by the time emergency crews arrived, all occupants had exited the vehicle on their own.
Three ambulances were dispatched, and five individuals were transported to Northwestern Medicine Huntley Hospital and Northwestern Medicine McHenry Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. One vehicle was found heavily damaged and overturned, with significant debris scattered across the roadway. A Jeep was also reported to have sustained side damage.
Route 31 was fully closed from Edgewood Road to East Brighton Lane until just before 9 a.m. as crews worked the scene and cleared the wreckage.
