Corpus Christi, TX (September 14, 2025) – A multi-vehicle accident involving an 18-wheeler, a police traffic unit, and a public transit bus left three individuals injured Friday afternoon in Corpus Christi.
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the collision occurred around 12:50 p.m. on September 12 along eastbound Highway 44 at Clarkwood. Authorities reported that the initial incident began when an 18-wheeler crashed into a barricade. As Corpus Christi Police Department officers were handling the situation, another vehicle struck a CCPD Scorpion truck stationed for traffic control.
The out-of-control vehicle continued on to collide with a Regional Transit Authority bus that was traveling along the road. The officer using the CCPD truck and the bus driver both sustained non-life-threatening injuries and were transported to area hospitals. The driver of the vehicle that caused the secondary crash was also hospitalized with major but stable injuries.
The crash remains under investigation.
