Lindon, UT (September 18, 2025) – A serious multi-vehicle crash on Interstate 15 brought northbound traffic to a halt for several hours Wednesday morning and left one person critically injured.
According to the Utah Highway Patrol, the crash began just after 9 a.m. on September 17, when a dump truck traveling northbound on I-15 near mile marker 273 lost its left rear tire. The tire bounced over the center barrier into southbound lanes, striking two vehicles and causing minor injuries.
As troopers worked the scene and traffic slowed, a secondary crash occurred. A passenger vehicle came to a stop and was rear-ended by a semi-truck, triggering a five-vehicle chain-reaction collision. One person was transported in critical condition and another in serious condition to area hospitals.
The crash forced the closure of all northbound lanes for approximately three hours. As of 3:19 p.m., all lanes were reopened except for the HOV lane. Residual delays affected the surrounding roadways into Orem and American Fork.
