New Castle, NY (May 15, 2025) – A devastating two-vehicle accident on the Taconic State Parkway claimed the lives of four individuals, including longtime Bergenfield High School football coach Rob Violante, on the afternoon of May 14.
According to reports, the fatal crash occurred when a southbound Sprinter van crossed the grassy median and collided head-on with a northbound Honda sedan in the left lane. The violent impact resulted in four confirmed fatalities and left one other individual in critical condition.
Rob Violante, who had led the Bergenfield High School football program since 2011, was identified as one of the victims by the New Jersey Football Coaches Association. He was set to begin his 15th season, tying him as the longest-serving coach in the program’s history.
