According to the New York State Police, the crash occurred shortly after 8:00 p.m. on August 28. A marked 2016 Dodge NYPD vehicle struck a 2024 Chevrolet that was stopped on the shoulder of the parkway. Video captured at the scene showed heavy front-end damage to the police cruiser, with smoke visibly rising from the engine compartment.
Emergency services responded quickly, and both the officer and the driver of the parked Chevrolet were transported to a nearby hospital. Their current conditions have not been publicly released.
