Okanogan County, WA (January 19, 2025) – Alberto Martinez Flores, 43, of Brewster, lost his life in a tragic head-on collision early Friday morning on Highway 97.

The crash occurred at approximately 4:20 AM near milepost 256. According to the Washington State Police, Flores was driving a Honda Accord northbound when it collided head-on with a southbound Chevy Silverado driven by Jonathan Husong of Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Following the impact, Husong’s vehicle struck a third vehicle and a nearby guardrail. Neither Husong nor the driver of the third vehicle sustained injuries.

Authorities determined that Husong was under the influence of drugs or alcohol at the time of the crash. The incident is being investigated as a vehicular homicide. Flores was pronounced dead at the scene.

Highway 97 remained closed for about three hours while troopers investigated the scene. The circumstances leading to the collision remain under investigation.
