Louisville, KY (December 18, 2025) – Crews with the Louisville Fire Department battled a serious house fire early Wednesday, December 17, after a stove left on overnight ignited a blaze at a residence on the 2200 block of Hale Avenue.
According to the Louisville Fire Department, the call came in just after 3:30 a.m. Firefighters arrived to find heavy flames engulfing the two-story structure with fire threatening adjacent homes. A total of 58 firefighters responded and worked quickly, deploying multiple hand lines and large-diameter hoses to contain the fire. Crews brought the situation under control shortly after 4:00 a.m.
Both the main residence and a nearby home were occupied at the time. Two individuals sustained minor injuries and were treated on scene. The American Red Cross was contacted to help the displaced residents with temporary shelter and support.
After a preliminary investigation, arson investigators determined the cause to be accidental—a stove left on overnight sparked the fire.
