Investigators say a 47-year-old man from Pensacola was driving eastbound in a sedan when he hit the two pedestrians — a 20-year-old man from Hoover, Alabama, and a 20-year-old woman from Calera, Alabama — as they attempted to cross the roadway.
Both victims were pronounced dead at the scene by responding troopers. The driver was not injured during the incident. Perdido Key Drive was closed for several hours following the crash but has since been reopened to traffic.
