Douglas, MO (June 17, 2025) – A 65-year-old pedestrian was injured Monday afternoon after being struck by a westbound vehicle on Highway T near Goodhope.
According to reports, the incident occurred at approximately 3:45 p.m. on June 16. A 2010 Kia Optima, driven by a 28-year-old man from Bruner, Missouri, was heading west when the driver briefly diverted his attention to place a cell phone on the passenger seat. In that moment, he swerved and attempted to avoid a pedestrian walking in the roadway. Despite his efforts, the vehicle’s passenger side mirror struck the pedestrian.
The pedestrian, a male resident of Ava, Missouri, sustained minor injuries and was transported to Mercy Hospital in Springfield by Cox Ambulance. The vehicle was not severely damaged and was driven from the scene following the investigation by local authorities.
