Sarasota, FL (September 29, 2025) – A 76-year-old man was tragically struck and killed while crossing Bee Ridge Road in Sarasota on Friday morning, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the fatal crash occurred around 7 a.m. on September 27, in the eastbound lanes of Bee Ridge Road, just east of Riviera Drive. The man was walking from south to north across the roadway when he was hit by a vehicle traveling east in the left lane.
After the impact, the vehicle, driven by a 19-year-old Sarasota man, came to a controlled stop in the continuous left turn lane and remained at the scene. The driver was not injured in the crash.
Sarasota County EMS responded and pronounced the pedestrian deceased at the scene.
The incident remains under active investigation by the FHP Traffic Homicide Unit.
