Campbell County, VA (October 1, 2024) – A tragic accident on Route 460 claimed the life of a pedestrian on Saturday, September 28, at 8:17 p.m.
According to Virginia State Police, the driver of a 2013 Chevy Suburban was traveling eastbound on Route 460 at the intersection of Scotts Farm Road when a pedestrian, identified as 68-year-old Aniela Kowalczyk of Campbell County, was struck while crossing the eastbound lanes. Kowalczyk, who was wearing dark clothing, was then hit by two additional vehicles, a 2010 Toyota Tacoma and a 2021 GMC Canyon.
Sadly, Kowalczyk died at the scene. Authorities noted that there is no crosswalk at the location of the accident.
All three drivers involved remained at the scene and cooperated with the police. None of the drivers were injured in the incident.
The crash is still under investigation by Virginia State Police.
