Houston, TX (September 18, 2025) – A man was killed early Wednesday morning after being hit by a vehicle on the service road of the Gulf Freeway in southeast Houston.
According to the Houston Police Department, the fatal collision occurred at approximately 3:40 a.m. on September 17 in the 15400 block of the Gulf Freeway, also known as South Interstate Highway 45. Authorities reported that a black Ford Fusion was traveling southbound on the service road when it struck a pedestrian who was walking in a moving lane of traffic.
The male pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity has not yet been released pending notification of his family.
The driver of the Ford remained on site, cooperated with police, and showed no signs of impairment. He was questioned and released.
