Honolulu, HI (September 18, 2025) – A woman was seriously hurt Wednesday afternoon after being struck by a van near Kaimuki High School.

According to the Hawaii Department of Public Safety, the crash happened at a bus stop in front of Sekiya’s Restaurant, located near the school, on September 17. Police said the van’s 68-year-old driver lost control of the vehicle due to a medical episode, veering off course and hitting a 51-year-old female pedestrian.

Emergency Medical Services responded to the scene and provided immediate care to both individuals. The pedestrian was taken to a nearby hospital in serious condition. The driver was also hospitalized but reported to be in stable condition.
