Pittsburgh, PA (May 14, 2025) – According to reports, a tragic two-vehicle crash on Interstate 70 westbound claimed the lives of a mother and her young son Sunday afternoon in Washington County.
The incident occurred on May 11 shortly after 1 p.m. near mile marker 6. Pennsylvania State Police say a Toyota Camry was traveling westbound near the Pennsylvania border when the driver lost control of the vehicle. The Camry crossed over the center median—dropping roughly 20 feet—before entering the eastbound lanes and colliding with an oncoming tractor-trailer.
The violent impact caused the Camry to spin out, ejecting both the female passenger and the 4-year-old child. The woman, identified as Aisha Trawally, was pronounced dead at the scene. Her son, Abdul-Salami Touray, was transported to a local hospital where he later died from his injuries.
The force of the crash also sent the tractor-trailer off the roadway and into a nearby home. Investigators continue to assess the factors involved in the collision.
