According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, the crash occurred at approximately 12:50 a.m. on August 26 near mile marker 28.1 of K32, about 0.3 miles east of 65th Street. Authorities say a 2005 Ford F-350 was traveling westbound in the eastbound lanes while being pursued by law enforcement when the driver attempted a U-turn.
During the maneuver, the vehicle left the roadway to the left, entered a ditch, and overturned onto its driver side. The driver, identified as 31-year-old Dennis Mitchell of Kansas City, Kansas, sustained suspected minor injuries and was transported to KU Medical Center for treatment. Police noted that he was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash. No other vehicles were involved, and the truck had no valid insurance coverage.
