Topeka, KS (July 31, 2025) — A rear-end crash on the Kansas Turnpike Tuesday afternoon sent one man to the hospital and caused delays on the southbound lanes of Interstate 335, roughly 10 miles southwest of Topeka.
According to reports, the crash occurred at approximately 3:12 p.m. on July 29 when a 2020 Freightliner Cascadia struck the rear of a 2017 International truck. The International was parked in the left lane and engaged in highway maintenance duties when the collision occurred.
The driver of the maintenance vehicle, 58-year-old Ronnie Bell of Wichita, was wearing his seat belt and sustained suspected minor injuries. He was transported to Stormont Vail Hospital in Topeka for treatment. The driver of the Freightliner, identified as 31-year-old Nonamegiven Sishpal of Fresno, California, was also wearing a seat belt and reported no injuries.
Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances of the collision.
