REDMOND, OR (January 11, 2025) – A tragic two-vehicle collision on SW Canal Boulevard near SW Quarry Avenue resulted in the death of a 16-year-old on Thursday evening, according to the Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office.
The crash occurred around 5 p.m. on January 9 when a northbound Subaru Legacy crossed the centerline and collided head-on with a southbound Toyota Tacoma.
The Subaru’s driver, identified as Bradley Hughes, 16, of Bend, was transported to St. Charles in Bend, where he was pronounced deceased. Reports indicate that Hughes was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.
A passenger in the Toyota Tacoma was taken to St. Charles in Redmond with minor injuries. No other injuries were reported.
Authorities stated that alcohol and drugs are not suspected to have contributed to the incident, though the crash remains under investigation.
