Kalihi, HI (January 7, 2026) – Firefighters swiftly responded to a residential building fire Saturday morning in the Kalihi neighborhood, bringing the situation under control in under half an hour.
According to the Honolulu Fire Department, the blaze was reported just before 10:40 a.m. on January 3 at a two-story apartment building on Kalena Drive. Fire crews arrived within minutes and found active flames inside the structure.
One person managed to exit the building without assistance and was evaluated at the scene by Emergency Medical Services. The individual declined transportation to the hospital. During their response, firefighters also rescued two dogs and a cat from the residence.
